Our Staff



Scott, founder and president of Katsura Landscaping, is also the installation division manager and has 15 years of industry experience. He completed the Capilano University Landscape Horticulture program in 2006, and is a Certified Landscape Professional (CLP), a designation given to landscape managers through the Canada Nursery Landscape Association. He is also a certified hardscape installer. He started the company in 2006 after completing the Capilano program. He enjoys snowboarding, playing guitar, and running North Shore trails. He was born and lives in North Vancouver.


Alex is the maintenance division manager. He attended the Capilano University Landscape Horticulture program in 2007. Alex has 15 years of landscaping experience and brings lots of enthusiasm, reliability, and attention to detail. He has great plant identification and knowledge, and combines this with his exceptional turf knowledge. He has been with the company since 2008. Prior to that he had his own landscape maintenance business. He enjoys hiking and sports. He lives in North Vancouver with his wife and son.



Karen Grannary has been with Katsura Landscaping for over 6 years, an accountant for more than 30 years having studied Business Administration at McGill University and CGA at Ryerson in Toronto. Karen has many years’ experience in the corporate world and enjoys being part of the Katsura team. You can often see Karen paddling on the water with her Dragon Boat Team.



Vera’s expertise is to help you navigate the many options that could be used in your design and determine the style, materials and practical elements that combine to meet your wants and needs.  The finished Landscape plan illustrates for all the desired end result with enough detail to achieve those results. She has been a landscape designer / architect for over 20 years and has an extensive knowledge of hardscape and softscape features and a creative eye for design layouts.


Charlie Adams

Charlie is a maintenance foreman. She has 3 years’ experience and has completed the Residential Landscape Technician diploma program giving her a great knowledge of horticulture, botany, turf science, soils, irrigation, and Integrated Pest Management. Her best skills and strengths are plant identification and fine pruning. She loves learning about which plants flower in different seasons and taking a messy garden and transforming it.

Zlata Houdkova

Zlata is a landscaper. She has 7 years experience in her home country of Czech Republic, caring for green spaces and private properties. She has a masters degree from Czech University of Life Sciences in Agrobiology, Food and Natural Resources. Her main field of study was Garden and Landscape Planning. She enjoys pruning trees and shrubs as well as planting, and her goal is to create and enhance the natural beauty of plants. Her hobbies include reading, hiking, scuba diving, and kayaking. She loves the outdoors and the friendliness of people in Vancouver.

Nathan Hyde

Nathan is a maintenance foreman. He has 4 years’ experience doing landscaping on the North Shore. He takes pride in his fine attention to detail in every job he does. He really enjoys working outside, feeling alive and connected to the natural world. His favorite types of jobs are garden restorations and pruning Rhodos / overgrown shrubs. He enjoys playing hacky sack, and finds Vancouver’s mild winters to be very enjoyable compared to other cities in Canada.

Daan van der Linden

Daan (pronounced Dan) is a maintenance foreman. He has 6 years’ experience in his home country of the Netherlands. This includes 4 years of horticulture vocational training which covered both in class learning and job placements for experience in the field. He has moved to North Vancouver and is loving the city and the mountain views. His favorite things about landscaping are being outside and seeing the seasonal changes in gardens. His best skills are pruning and hedge trimming. He is an avid soccer fan and is starting to cheer for our local Whitecaps.
